For those of you who know me and are reading this, you know I’m a bit of an Apple fanboy.

Well I have been an Apple Watch wearer for a few years now. My Series 2 watch has not been off my wrist very much, since I got it a few days after release in 2016. I have a few straps for it and change them about as I get bored wearing the same colour every day.

Well I got to thinking about the straps themselves. I got a black silicone sports band with my watch originally and have since bought some different coloured bands, made from different materials. The thing though that these have in common is their flat surface. Whilst I like the flat surface some of the time, I also like to wear something which has some deeper character.

I belong to a couple of groups on Facebook, relating to the Etcher Laser which I got earlier this year. One of the ladies on there asked if anyone had successfully etched an Apple Watch band. I had a idea for this and thought I would give it a go this week. So as to not destroy the band with my test etchings, I turned it over and etched on the underside first, which is hidden from view while im wearing it.

I found the graphics online online in SVG (Scalable Vector Graphic) format, which gives the best output as the lines are exact and not jagged which can be the unfortunate side effect of using raster images. I made 3 test etchings as ou will see from the picture, each with a different setting and finally found the best setting to give the result I wanted.

Once I was happy I had ot the right settings on the laser, I turned the strap over and etched the design below.

Before anyone goes tattling to Apple, that I used their logo and created unofficial Apple merchandise, well this is a one of a kind item that will not be sold and is for my enjoyment only!

I have more strap designs that I intend to make and will upload them on here soon.
